How does one approach James Joyce’s Ulysses? Reading this masterpiece is both like and unlike reading other novels. Through close reading and discussion of the text we will explore its major themes and concepts, navigate its calm and turbulent sections, and enjoy our travel through the landscape of this amazing book. Participants will emerge from the seminar stronger readers. We will use the Hans Walter Gabler edition; please read chapters one and two for the first session.
