In appreciation for their support of the Newberry’s Annual Fund, Associates and President’s Fellows are cordially invited to Associates Night. Scott Manning Stevens, Ph.D., Director of the D’Arcy McNickle Center, will give a talk entitled Mr. Ayer’s Community Service. He will discuss how, by donating his collection, Edward Ayer made the Newberry not only a center for scholarship on American Indian history and culture, but also a lasting resource for contemporary Indian communities seeking to maintain, and in some cases revive, their own languages and traditions.
