Please note this seminar will run from 9 am to 12 pm
In this course we will examine what causes contributed to the establishment of the European Union and to its crowning achievement, the creation of the Euro. We also plan to review the first decade of the Euro and to emphasize that the Euro in a very short decade became the second most powerful currency in the world after the US dollar. Finally, we will discuss the sources of financial instability in Europe. It is very challenging to explain how an otherwise ordinary housing crisis translated into a financial panic and a soverieign debt crisis. Finally, we plan to review the experiences of the US and Japan with central bank quantitative easing to propose lessons learned that may be useful for the EU.
Registration opens September 4, 2013.
