On Renaissance How-To Books

Thursday, October 4, 2012
(This program continues for multiple sessions)
Thursdays, October 4 – November 8

2 – 4 pm

This seminar has been cancelled.
Led by Constance Markey

How-to manuals are not new. Rather, they emerged in Renaissance Italy where men like da Vinci, Machiavelli, Galileo, and others were eager to educate. In short readings under the warm and lively tutelage of these masters, we will familiarize ourselves with how to behave during the Renaissance: at home, at court, at the telescope, in the artist’s studio, and elsewhere.

Constance Markey holds a Ph.D. in Italian literature and has taught and published extensively.
