Civil War Exhibition

Daniel Greene, Vice President for Research and Academic Programs, Newberry Library

“Home Front” is the Chicago area’s largest exhibition in commemoration of the sesquicentennial of the American Civil War. The exhibition brings together Newberry collection items from the Civil War era with paintings from the Terra Foundation for American Art to explore how daily life at home was altered by war. Newberry staff members across multiple library departments collaborated with the Terra Foundation staff to make possible the exhibition, accompanying volume of essays, and upcoming series of public programs.

Please join Daniel Greene, one of the exhibition’s co-curators, for a walk through the gallery. We will convene in the lobby on the first floor.
