Kyle Roberts, Newberry Library Scholar-in-Residence; Loyola University Chicago

The original (c.1878) library catalogue for St Ignatius College (precursor to Loyola University Chicago) has provided a surprisingly generative site for teaching digital history to undergraduate and graduate students. In this colloquium, Roberts will reflect on the lessons learned from two projects - a virtual reconstruction of the original library collection and a digital archive of provenance information from surviving books. Both projects have much to tell us about doing history today and the new modes of interpreting and presenting scholarship to the broader audiences that are connected to our histories.
