Since the late eighteenth century revolutionaries in other nations have looked to the American Revolution for inspiration and different social and political reformers within the United States have sought to inhabit the legacy of the Revolution to advance their own causes. This seminar explores the meaning of the Revolution in its own time and over time, both at home and abroad, from the abolitionists to the Tea Party and from the French Revolution to the Arab Spring.
