In case you’ve haven’t marked your calendar, it’s time for the annual Newberry Book Fair. And this year the Fair, one of the largest used-book sales in the country, is celebrating its 30th anniversary! The Fair will be held Thursday, July 24th, through Sunday, July 27th.
I snuck in early, just to take a peek, and found loads of books that might be of interest to genealogists. Here’re just a few:
Society publications, from a variety of organizations such as the North Carolina Genealogical Society and the Chicago Genealogical Society. I also found backcopies of the Chicago History Magazine.
Yearbooks included the 1946 Emblem from the Chicago Teachers College.
There is a whole section of books on Chicago, including: Natures Metropolis, Chicago Architecture from 1872-1922, Dutch Chicago, and Who’s Who in Chicago and Illinois, 1945.
There are histories of all sorts: The Oregon Trail, History of Hancock County. IL., and An Arnold Family record: 828 Years in America.
And of course there are maps and atlases: Atlas of European History, Historical Atlas of Colorado.
So come on down, you’re bound to find something of interest among the thousands of items for sale.
