Admission is free (donations welcome!)
The international, annual, all-around good time BYO home movie event, Home Movie Day celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Home Movie Day is a celebration of films and amateur filmmaking held at venues around the world. The Center for Home Movies began the event as a way to promote the preservation and appreciation of home movies. The Chicago Film Archives has hosted an annual Chicago Home Movie Day for the past 9 years.
As in years past, local archivists will inspect and screen your celluloid (16mm., 8mm., & Super 8mm.) home movies. They’ll teach you how to keep them safe and sound so you can preserve them for future generations. This event depends on you, your family and your treasures (those without films are welcome as well. A two part film program will also be featured.
