Collection includes five treaties and two supporting documents, one indenture and one agreement, between New York State and the Oneida Nation for the cession of certain tribal lands, executed between 1788 and 1811. In these treaties the Oneida Indians eventually sold much of their reservation lands primarily held in Madison and Oneida counties, N.Y.

He was also a trustee of the Orchestral Association of Chicago, the Civic Music Association, and the Newberry Library. Correspondents include Jane Addams, Walter Damrosch, Robert Lovett, Potter Palmer, Lessing Rosenthal, Ralph F. Minutes, correspondence, accounts, receipts, powers of attorney, and lists of Ohio Company agent Benjamin Heywood, a former Continental Army officer and Worcester, Mass. resident. The Ohio Company was formed by Revolutionary War officers to raise capital for acquisition and settlement of federal lands northwest of the Ohio River. Lands were settled slowly, but in 1788 the firm was successful in founding Marietta, Ohio under the leadership of Rufus Putnam. The records include, among other things, subscriber lists detailing military service and correspondence with company treasurer Richard Platt.

Orland was a literary and music critic for the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and the musicology journal Music and Man; he also served as program director for Northwestern University's radio station, WNUR, and for the program "Facets of Music" for KFUO in St. Louis (tapes of which appear in the collection). His compositions include symphonies, concertos, songs, and other works.

Orr, Carey, 1890-. Political cartoons, 1915-1937.

American editorial cartoonist, who started working for the Chicago Tribune in 1917, and who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1960. Orr's political cartoons appeared on the front page for more than forty-six years. Orr material at the Newberry includes a small collection of sixteen original political cartoons dating from his early career, concerning World War I, the Depression, crime in Chicago, and free speech.

Wight Neumann for 20 years; she continued his work after his death in 1924, managing concerts at the Auditorium, Playhouse, and a variety of other venues.
