Biography of Edward Eulenberg

Chicago reporter and editor.

Edward H. Eulenberg began his newspaper career in 1927, working for City News Bureau. He remained there for the next thirty years as a reporter and editor. In 1957, Eulenberg moved on to the Chicago Daily News as a reporter and feature writer where he remained until his retirement in 1977. Additionally, Eulenberg served as an instructor, educational advisor, and journalism coordinator for Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. Eulenberg was married to Jean Eulenberg and they had two sons. He died in January of 1988.

Scope and Content of the Collection

This collection consists mainly of newspaper clippings of Eulenberg’s articles and his column “In the Classroom” written for the Chicago Daily News. Eulenberg’s articles and his column cover a wide variety of mostly local topics. As a sinophile from childhood, Eulenberg writes extensively about Chicago’s Chinese community. He also covers Jewish holidays and charity organizations such as the Crusade of Mercy. Also included in the collection are a small amount of research materials gathered for his column, and collected newspaper clippings regarding himself, his family, and various other topics of interest.
