The Chicago Calligraphy Collective was founded in 1976 to promote the study, practice, and appreciation of calligraphy in all its historical and present day applications. This annual juried exhibit of members' work includes handmade artists' books and broadsides as well as three-dimensional works executed in various media and styles, from classical to contemporary. The annual Purchase Award enables the Newberry to acquire one exhibited piece to strengthen the calligraphy holdings of its distinguished John M. Wing Foundation for the History of Printing.
Chicago Calligraphy Collective Opening Reception and Presentation of the Purchase Award
Saturday, June 7, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join members of the Chicago Calligraphy Collective to view the twenty-second annual juried show, and meet exhibiting aritists. Find out which exhibited piece will become part of the Newberry's calligraphy collections when Paul F. Gehl, Custodian of the Newberry's John M. Wing Foundation for the History of Printing, announces the 2008 winner of the Purchase Award. Admission is free; no reservation is required.
