Every year the Newberry adds to its holdings materials such as the medieval liturgical manuscripts, printed books of the Renaissance, colonial Americana, Latin American fine press volumes, and the contemporary calligraphic pieces in this exhibit. Without generations of generous donors dating back to the Library's founding benefactor, Walter L. Newberry (1804-1868), none of these treasures would have come to the Newberry Library, where anyone 16 or older may consult them.
