Pressroom as Classroom: the Press at Colorado
February 2 – March 26, 2005

Since 1978, The Press at Colorado College has issued nearly forty books and twenty-five broadsides by letterpress, which its founder Jim Tressel (1930–1999) called "slow tech."  Trissel taught that painting and typography were not separate studio practices but artistic disiplines that informed the design and printing of books.  Selections of this body of fine printing, including five books from The Press owned by the Newberry, demonstrate the continued pleasures of fine bookmaking in the twenty-first century.
