To book a tour, contact Sarah Frank at (312) 255-3659 or franks@newberry.org. Group tours require advance booking. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Please allow a minimum of one week to book your tour. Tour organizers are encouraged to read the additional information below before booking a tour.
Group tours should have a minimum of 15 people; the maximum group size is 25 people.
Groups exceeding 25 people may be asked to break into two or more smaller groups that will be booked for back-to-back tours. In this situation, the organizer should make off-site plans or arrange in advance for one of the following options for the part of the group that is not taking the Exhibit Tour: book a small seminar room; book a Library Tour (additional guidelines apply, see below); or take a self-guided tour of the other exhibit. Please note that not all options will be available on all days.
Parking is not available at the Library.
Library Tours are offered in conjunction with Exhibit Tours only when additional docents are available. Library Tours provide a general tour of the library and include a visit to the reference and bibliographic center. They do not provide access to the reading rooms or to the stacks. Library Tours are intended for university students, adults, or high school students age 16 or above (or with junior status).
The following Library policies will be enforced for Library Tours:
