If the directory you need is not online, Quick Seaches can be done for the following years: 1839, 1844, 1846,1853-1857, 1859-1917, 1923, 1928. 1930. Chicago phone directories are also available.
Consult the Directories Holdings for a list of non-Chicago directories that are held by the Newberry Library.
For a $7 fee the Newberry's Local and Family History staff will search a single (one year) directory for one individual name. If an individual name or surname is found, we will send you a copy of the page from the directory. If an individual name is not found, we will photocopy the page or pages containing that surname.
Please note that there is a $7 charge for each year requested.
You may request searches of multiple years for the same name. Please send a check or money order for $7 per year made out to the Newberry Library, together with the completed form to:
