Local History and Vital Records

Michigan Death Records (1867-1882) are online. The Michigan Department of Public Health created this database and periodically updates it.

Researchers should also check the computer catalog for materials cataloged under the name of the locality (county, city or town.) Also, the Mormon Family History Library Catalog available at http://www.familysearch.org is a good source for local records. Microfilm records held by the LDS library can be loaned through the Newberry Library. Inquire at the Local and Family History reference desk if you are interested in this option.
