The Newberry's A.C. McClurg Bookstore specializes in books which complement the holdings of the Library. Its specialties include American Studies, Medieval and Renaissance History, Literature, Native American Studies, Genealogy, Cartography, and books about Chicago and the Midwest. In addition, the bookstore offers a thoughtful selection of general interest titles, book-related gifts, and a wide selection of greeting cards and stationery.
The Newberry Bookstore stocks all required and suggested readings for the Newberry Library Seminars. Associates of the Newberry Library at the Author level or higher receive a 10 percent discount on all Seminars texts, as well as most books and other items in the store.

The Newberry Bookstore is operated by the Seminary Co-op Bookstores, Inc., a co-operative bookstore founded in 1961 by students at the University of Chicago. The Co-op carries over 100,000 titles in the humanities and social sciences, and offers the best selection of academic books in the United States. The Seminary Co-op also maintains a Web site that features new books and describes its holdings in detail.
The Newberry Library's A.C. McClurg Bookstore has copies of The Encyclopedia of Chicago, a 10-year project of the Newberry Library in collaboration with the Chicago Historical Society and published by the University of Chicago Press. The 1,152-page hardcover book is $65.00.
