The Computer-Assisted Genealogy Group of Northern Illinois (CAGG-NI) is a vibrant, active group with over 175 active members. Most are amateur genealogy hobbyists, some are professional genealogists, and many are just getting started in family history research.
CAGG-NI hosts 11 Membership Programs each year, on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m., usually at the Schaumburg Township District Library in Schaumburg, Illinois, in all months except December. The meetings are on a wide range of general genealogical topics, often with a focus for the on-line researcher. Membership Programs are a great way to enhance your genealogy skills and to meet with others who share a common interest.
CAGG-NI hosts Special Interest Group meetings (SIGs) for users of the following genealogy software programs:
- Family Tree Maker
- The Master Genealogists
- Personal Ancestry File / Ancestral Quest
Each SIG meets several times throughout the year, either following the general Membership Program or on an alternate Saturday. Refer to CAGG-NI Meetings for complete details.
Each member receives the monthly Newsletter. The newsletter is an excellent source of tips, genealogy news, and articles of interest for the modern genealogy researcher. We invite you to view a sample Newsletter.
Members receive access to the Members-Only section of the CAGG-NI website. This section contains a complete archive of past newsletters, a member forum, and a member directory. Members can edit their profiles and search for others in the group with similar interests. The CAGG-NI Surname service puts members in touch with anyone, anywhere, who’s searching for persons researching the same Surname.
