The Czech and Slovak American Genealogical Society of Illinois (CSAGSI) develops, preserves and shares genealogical, historical, and cultural knowledge of Czech, Slovak, Moravian, and Rusyn ancestors.
The Czech and Slovak American Genealogical Society of Illinois monthly newsletter provides information about quarterly programs, tours and classes, and genealogy hints. Koreny, the quarterly journal, publishes articles about Czech and Slovak history, genealogy research, and Chicago history. Researchers can also use the CSAGSI Paul M. Nemecek Research Library located at the T.G. Masaryk School in Cicero, IL for their genealogy research. A complete list of the library’s holdings is available at the CSAGSI website.
Membership Details:
CSAGSI Membership Categories: Individual $25, Family $30, and Institutional $30. (For Continental U.S. members. – Others should Email for Foreign Rates.) Membership year is September 1 through August 31.
Meeting Details:
Quarterly meetings are held at the First Presbyterian Church, 150 S. Ashland, LaGrange, IL. The January 28, 2012 meeting is about “Overcoming Obstacles in Researching 20th Century Immigrants.” The May 19th meeting will be about the town of Lidice.
