The Newberry supports research and learning through a number of digital collections based on its holdings, as well as through online exhibitions, publications, reference materials, and other digital resources.

Digital Collections include several thematic image galleries, such as Daily Life Along the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, featuring photographs documenting people and places along the CB&Q line in 1948.

Digital Exhibitions draw on the collections to explore stories, themes, and ideas. Many are digital versions of exhibitions that have appeared in the Newberry’s galleries, while others have been newly curated for the web.

Publications of many kinds, digital and print, are an important part of how the Newberry fosters new scholarship and enables teaching and learning. One recent digital publication, Frontier to Heartland, traces the history of central North America over the past 400 years.
