Angela Vanhaelen, McGill University

Angela Vanhaelen is Associate Professor of Art History in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University. She specializes in the study of seventeenth-century Dutch visual culture, and it the author of Comic Print and Theatre in Early Modern Amsterdam: Gender, childhood and the city (Ashgate, 2003). Recent articles appear in De Zeventiende Eeuw, Art Bulletin, and RES: Journal of Anthropology and Aesthetics. She is presently completing a book manuscript, The Wake of Iconoclasm: Painting the Church in the Dutch Republic.
