RootsTech Attendance Soars

If you’re running into more and more people who also like doing family history, its not just coincidence. Genealogy is attracting new researchers at an incredible pace. Witness the recent attendance statistics for the RootsTech conference, now the largest genealogical conference in North America.

In his March 25, 2013 blog post “RootsTech2013 Wrap-up Report,” Dick Eastman reports “More than 6,700 people from 49 U.S. States (why was no one there from Delaware?) and 17 countries were in the Salt Palace Convention Center for the opening day of the RootsTech Conference on March 21…..That number does not include the nearly 2,000 teen-agers who attended a special “genealogy for youth” session on Saturday…..As if that isn’t enough, another 10,000 people viewed classes and events via live streaming online video, and another 4,000 participated by remote satellite broadcast.”

Lookout for RootsTech 2014 - FamilySearch plans to expand the sites receiving satellite broadcasts from 16 locations to 600, with an expected reach of 120,000 people!
