The Dr. William M. Scholl Center for American History and Culture promotes research and teaching through the use of the Newberry’s rich collections in American history, literature, and culture. Scholl Center projects aim to unite innovative research in the humanities with a wide array of public humanities projects. Our programs include an annual series of seminars in cooperation with Chicago-area universities. The center also regularly hosts summer institutes and teaching workshops for educators and researchers at every level.
