In particular, it commemorates the many Portuguese communities established in the United States during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Jerusalem 3000: Three Millenia of History is an online exhibit mounted by the Osher Map Library. This exhibition examines Jerusalem’s unique position among cities of the world, which derives from its crucial role in religious history as a holy city for three great monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It presents a selection of maps and views – from imaginary and idealized portrayals based on Scriptural interpretation to objective depictions derived from historical records or eyewitness, to combinations of reality and fantasy – which provide a broad perspective on three millennia of Jerusalem’s eventful history.
