Program Information

NHSA Overview

Like the Newberry’s professional development programs for CPS teachers, these seminars will provide rigorous intellectual enrichment through exploration of texts and discussion led by distinguished scholars.

The goal of the program is to provide principals with the opportunity to reflect on the challenges of leadership from a humanistic perspective, and to consider how leadership involves the questions of ethics, knowledge and ways of thinking. The seminars will also give principals the opportunity to share an experience that hundreds of CPS teachers consider one of the best professional development programs that they have attended.

Seminar Format

Each seminar consists of a three - hour discussion led by a distinguished scholar. The seminars meet the content requirements for CPS Principal Competencies. Both seminars are held at the Newberry Library on weekdays from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Seminar registration will be limited to 20 participants.
