Seminar Description

Since the early history of Chicago and Illinois, women’s contributions to the city and the state have often been overlooked. This seminar will explore the lives and work of many significant Chicago women who overcame great obstacles to achieve success. Recent initiatives to honor and recognize the contributions of women – through park names, monuments, and exhibits, for example – will be explored. The third session will meet at Chicago Women’s Park and Gardens (1801 South Indiana). The last session of the seminar features a tour of Chicago Women’s Park and Gardens and Widow Clarke House.
Three sessions. E - $160, L - $176
