Papers may be in any academic field relating to American Indian and Indigenous Studies. We encourage the submission of papers that examine a wide variety of subjects relating to American Indian and Indigenous Studies histories and cultures.

To propose a paper, please include a title and a one-page abstract of your paper. The papers will be grouped into 45 minute sessions followed by 15 minutes of commentary from the audience. Paper proposals must be received by January 1, 2019. To submit a proposal please send your paper abstract to the McNickle Center program coordinator, Patrick Rochford at rochfordp@newberry.org.

Registration opens on January 1, 2019 all presenters must register for the conference. There is no registration fee but registration is required in order to present. Papers proposals will be decided on a rolling basis, the sooner you submit your proposal the sooner you will learn about its status. NCAIS students will be reimbursed up to $400 for travel expenses. For those students experiencing financial hardship, they will be reimbursed in advance for such travel expenses as plane fare. Hotel rooms are available at the Claridge Hotel, 1255 North Dearborn Parkway, 312-787-4980, where you may reserve rooms at the reduced rate of $89. Please request the Newberry rate.
