Seminar Description

In this course we will cover the life and works of Galileo, motivating participants to do archival research at the Newberry Library. The idea is to familiarize participants with the figure of Galileo in the context of the Copernican Revolution. During each class, we will explore a relevant piece of writing by Galileo in an accessible way, reading and commenting on some of the most famous passages.

Daniele Macuglia received his Ph.D. in the history of science from the University of Chicago. He is currently an assistant professor of history of science at Peking University.
