Griffin Funeral Home, owned and run by Ernest Griffin (left), was located on the former site of Camp Douglas, a notorious POW camp for Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. After learning the history of the site in Bronzeville, Griffin commemorated its connection to the Civil War by staging reenactments and erecting a memorial in front of his funeral home.
