Seminar Description

The unusually tumultuous year of 1968 continues to be remembered for its political revolutions, social upheavals, and artistic innovations. This seminar will take a global approach in exploring that historical year through a consideration of such events as the Tet Offensive, May ‘68 in Paris, the Prague Spring, the assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert Kennedy, the Black Power movement, student rebellions from Germany to Mexico City, and the Democratic Convention in Chicago.

Eight sessions. Registration – $280

Frank Biletz received his PhD in history from the University of Chicago, with a primary specialization in modern British and Irish history. He is currently an adjunct instructor in history at Loyola University Chicago. He has been teaching seminars at the Newberry since 1994.
