Seminar Description

In this course, we will study a selection of the most significant concertos and investigate the form’s development over the past 200 years. Using classical music’s commonly accepted eras as our framework, we will explore the concerto’s status as one of the most popular styles of music.

Stephen Kleiman holds a BS from The Mannes College of Music and an MM in music composition/conducting from the University of Michigan. He has conducted throughout Europe and the U.S., and his compositions are performed regularly. He has been teaching at The Newberry since 2008.
