Seminar Description
In this seminar, we will explore the exciting history of cookbooks in Europe from 1300 to 1900. Focusing on primary sources, we will discuss many aspects of the cookbook including the creation of the physical object; authors, readers, and cooks; ingredients and kitchen technologies; and the meal. Four sessions.
Sarah Peters Kernan, independent culinary historian, holds a PhD in medieval history from The Ohio State University.
