Class Description

The Newberry has one of the nation’s strongest genealogy collections. This one-session class will show you accredited research methods for tracing your family’s history in America.

In this class, you will also learn about genealogical relationships, traditional family trees and charts, and see a step-by-step example of finding genealogical information at home and in public sources.

Marsha Peterson-Maass is author of the Fundamentals of Genealogy® textbook series and a board member of the Chicago Genealogical Society. She has led genealogy seminars at the Newberry Library since 2002.

Cost and Registration

One session, $50 ($45 for Newberry members, seniors, and students). Learn about becoming a member.
