The Cataloging Services Section at the Newberry ensures the quality of information presented in the online catalog and the functionality of the catalog as the central source for resource discovery at the Library. They develop strategies for cataloging Library materials which follow nationally recognized standards of bibliographic description and subject analysis, while adapting them to local needs. The Section expertly catalogs a wide range of materials, including books, manuscripts, graphic materials, realia, serials, ephemera, and cartographic materials from all time periods in a variety of languages.
