Seminar Description

Take a historical journey through modern dance, beginning with rebel pioneer Isadora Duncan and ending in the year 2020. This seminar will examine the important contributions of Mary Wigman, Ruth St. Denis, Ted Shawn, Alvin Ailey, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Lar Lubovitch, Crystal Pite, and Batsheva Dance Company. We will also look at the development and impact of the Gus Giordano Dance Company in Chicago. The seminar will explore dance history through readings, recordings of performances, discussion, and a conversation with a practicing choreographer.

Six sessions. Registration – $230

Lin Batsheva Kahn is an award winning artist-educator and productive, innovative choreographer. As a contemporary dance professor at DePaul University, she has been named an Excellence in Teaching Honoree and received the Innovation in Teaching Award from the DePaul/Art Institute Partnership Committee.
