Seminar Description

In this course, we will develop our awareness of female composers of the past 500 years. We will open our eyes--and ears--to a series of marvelous musical compositions that have rarely been recognized or heard due to social mores that made it difficult for female composers to gain the publicity or recognition they deserved.

Six sessions. Registration – $230

Stephen Kleiman has been teaching at the Newberry for 14 years. He is a graduate of the Mannes College of Music in New York and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Over the course of his extensive career, he has been a conductor, composer, and musical educator.
