Finding New Audiences. A Discussion with Rachel Cohen, Peter Slevin and Maya Jasanoff
We are pleased to open this year’s Writing History Seminar with a session focusing on writing beyond the academy, and we welcome three distinguished guests:
Rachel Cohen is Professor in the Creative Writing program at the University of Chicago. Her work has appeared in the New Yorker, The New York Times, the Guardian, and the London Review of Books. She is author of Intertwined Lives, and most recently, a biography, Bernard Berenson, A Life in the Picture Trade.
Peter Slevin is Associate Professor of Journalism at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Before coming to Northwestern, Slevin spent a decade as a national and international correspondent for the Washington Post, reporting stories on politics and war. In 2016 he published Michelle Obama: A Life.
Maya Jasanoff is Professor of History at Harvard. Jasanoff has written on the British Empire, including the books Edge of Empire: Lives, Culture, and Conquest in the East; Liberty's Exiles: American Loyalists in the Revolutionary World; and forthcoming, The Dawn Watch: Joseph Conrad in a Global World. She has also written for the Guardian, the New York Review, and the New York Times.
