Forbidden Newberry

Forbidden Newberry will feature an assortment of eerie collection items handpicked to get you in the Halloween spirit. Enjoy two exclusive curated collection presentations, seasonal drinks, and hors d'oeuvres.

Something wicked this way comes

Forbidden Newberry returns to the Library this Halloween, bringing out the scary, spooky, and downright scandalous items from the Newberry collections. We’ve gone further into the recesses of our vaults than ever before to bring you a devilish double feature: Ghostly Hauntings by Director of Reader Services Lisa Schoblasky featuring the spookiest volumes from the Newberry collection; and for a swashbuckling good time on the vengeful seas, George Amos Poole III Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts Dr. Suzanne Karr Schmidt’s Perilous Piracy!

Forbidden Newberry is designed for guests 21-45 years old. Event tickets are free for members of the Newberry’s Next Chapter young professionals group. Tickets are $30 for non-members.

Each event ticket includes: entrance to both tours, two drink tickets, hors d’oeuvres and Newberry giveaways.

Come as you are. Costumes optional.

For more information about Next Chapter, please contact Rob Onorato, Director of Individual Giving, at (312) 255-3599 or onorator@newberry.org.
