Thanks to a generous grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, The Newberry Library is drawing on its remarkable collection materials, academic communities, and cultural partners to respond to the question, What Is the Midwest? At this colloquium, staff members will share collection items that tell compelling stories of those who have lived in or visited the Midwest in the past and present and explore what makes the Midwest a distinct cultural, environmental, and political region. There will also be updates on what to expect from our upcoming digital resources, exhibits, and public programs.
