Class Description

Do four walls make a place? Can space be somewhere we go and something in between us? Whose faces do you look for? In this course, we'll draw from global queer and trans perspectives to explore three wide-ranging topics in LGBTQ+ art and art history: place, space, and face. Participation will include a combination of lecture, discussion, and in-class reflective writing. The goal of this course is to introduce you to a range of LGBTQ+ art and artists, so prior knowledge of LGBTQ+ history is not necessary, and allies are encouraged to participate!

Molly Fulop (they/she) is an Educational Psychology doctoral student at UIC and a Graduate Research Assistant for The LGBTQ+ Intergenerational Dialogue Project. Their work explores the roles of art museums in Florida and Illinois in countering LGBTQ+ censorship. They received an MA in Art Education from SAIC in 2023.
