Class Description
Welcome to Madrid! Dust off your Spanish, get ready, and be prepared to immerse yourself in a Spanish learning experience. This course has a dual focus, that is, exploring the city of Madrid while learning and practicing vocabulary and language structures in Spanish. The course focuses on developing and improving speaking and listening skills in Spanish, aiming at having participants communicate effectively while learning about the city.
Madrid, a vibrant world class city and yet, a place that has the charming vibe of a cozy small town. The city will be looked at from different angles, so as to gain a complete understanding of Spain’s capital. We will examine its geographical landscape, rich history and most recent developments, its traditions, culture, costumes, and food. We will also learn about some of Madrid’s most prominent personalities as well as its world-class museums and art pieces known and admired all over the world. And we will do it all in Spanish!
Students are required to have a good command of the Spanish language, especially those receptive skills such as reading and listening. Although materials will be appropriate and suitable for Spanish language learners, an intermediate level or above of the Spanish language would be best.
Marina Palomo Fernández is a public educator and a native Spanish language instructor. She holds a Master’s Degree in Geography and History and has international experience as an educator. She has taught Spanish courses to adults and has been a Spanish curriculum designer for many years.
All virtual classes are recorded and made available to participants registered in the class. These recordings are password-protected and available for up to two weeks after the class ends.
