The music of Johann Sebastian Bach has been enjoyed around the world since it was first performed over three hundred years ago. We will watch, listen to, and discuss a number of Bach’s musical masterpieces, focusing on their rhythmic vitality, mathematical genius, and emotional expression.

Seminar Description

The music of Johann Sebastian Bach has been enjoyed around the world since it was first performed over three hundred years ago. We will watch, listen to, and discuss a number of Bach’s musical works, focusing on their rhythmic vitality, mathematical genius, and emotional expression. Contextual information will help participants gain a deeper understanding of and appreciation for a selection of Bach’s musical masterpieces.

John Nygro is a lecturer, actor, and musician in the Chicago area with a forty year career in the arts. His talks have been heard at universities, libraries, arts organizations, and on the radio.
