Seminar Description

Stephen Sondheim is widely considered to be the most accomplished composer and lyricist ever to write for the American musical theater stage. A firm believer in the collaborative process and the power of the perfect rhyme, Sondheim has created a series of daring and indelible scores for Broadway. This seminar will focus on songs from six of Sondheim’s masterpieces, including Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Pacific Overtures, Sweeney Todd, and Sunday in the Park with George.

Douglas Post is an award-winning playwright whose works have been produced around the world. He has taught at Northwestern University, DePaul University, and Victory Gardens Theater. He currently teaches playwriting at Chicago Dramatists and serves on the Council of the Dramatists Guild of America.
