Mothers, Music, Memorials and Mourning

NULL

In the aftermath of World War I, complex issues arose about the American soldiers who had fallen. In the year following Armistice Day, 1918, mothers and music played significant parts in shaping and responding to these concerns. Today’s talk, based on a book chapter in a just-published collection of essays, traces some of the events of that year. Warning: heartfelt but amateur music performances will be included!
