Seminar Description

In observance of the 200th anniversary of their publication, we will read and discuss the two Jane Austen novels that were issued posthumously. Northanger Abbey deals with the dangers of confusing fiction with reality. Persuasion, meanwhile, is a richly textured work addressing social change, human integrity, and romantic second chances. Together, they provide a window onto Regency-era culture and show a celebrated author operating at the height of her powers.

Four sessions. E - $185, L - $203.50

Jeff Nigro is a research associate and adjunct lecturer at the Art Institute of Chicago and serves on the board of the Jane Austen Society of North America.
