Postcards from the Edge: the Teich Production Files

The 110,000 Teich production files contain the original photographs, layouts, coloring instructions, and marked-up proofs for the postcards Curt Teich & Co. produced at their Ravenswood factory. Over the past two years, Newberry archivists have been rehousing them in archival folders and removing negatives to ensure their long-term preservation. Kheir Fakhreldin will discuss what the production files reveal about how postcards were made and will share some of the remarkable images and other artifacts they contain, including depictions of African Americans, Native Americans, celebrities, and historic sites.
