Seminar Description

Explore the history of fashion and dress in Regency Britain from 1790 to 1820. Shaped by tumultuous domestic politics, international conflicts, and social unrest as well as the flourishing of neoclassicism, Regency fashion continues to inspire contemporary popular culture. In this seminar, we will learn about the rich world of Regency fashion through Jane Austen’s classic novels and Netflix’s hit romance series Bridgerton.

Two sessions. Registration – $120

A cultural historian and lecturer, Emilie M. Brinkman holds a PhD in European history from Purdue University. She specializes in the history of British politics, queenship, and fashion.
