Class Description
Seville, one of the most historic and joyful cities in the world, has an incredibly rich culture, stunning architecture, and an enchanted, lively, and colorful atmosphere. This course has a dual focus, that is, exploring the city of Seville while learning and practicing vocabulary and language structures in Spanish. The course focuses on developing and improving speaking and listening skills in Spanish, aiming at having participants communicate effectively while learning about the city. The city will be looked at from different angles, so as to gain a complete understanding of Seville. We will examine its geographical landscape, rich history, its preeminent role during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and its traditions, culture, costumes, and food. We will also learn about some of Seville’s most prominent personalities as well as its world class musical culture. All in Spanish!
Students are required to have a good command of the Spanish language, especially those receptive skills such as reading and listening. Although materials will be appropriate and suitable for Spanish language learners, an intermediate level or above of the Spanish language would be best.
All virtual classes are recorded and made available to participants registered in the class. These recordings are password-protected and available for up to two weeks after the class ends.
