Seminar Description

For over four centuries, Shakespeare’s Richard III has fascinated audiences with its treatment of power, murder, evil, incompetent leadership, and moral integrity. In this course, we will examine Shakespeare’s great history play, discussing its representations of politics, leadership, and the unintended consequences of apathy. We will also consider the value of Shakespeare’s dramatic genius by viewing video clips of this masterpiece.

John Nygro is a lecturer, actor, and musician in the Chicago area with a forty year career in the arts. His talks have been heard at universities, libraries, arts organizations, and on the radio.
